Who controls the data

When a college uses GaugeSkills, the college is the controller of student, faculty and parent records. GaugeSkills processes that data on the college's instructions under a written agreement. If you are a student or parent with a question about your record, your college is the right first point of contact.

What we collect

  • Account details: name, email address, role and institutional affiliation.
  • Academic activity: enrollment, course progress, quiz attempts and attendance.
  • AI tutor interactions, which are stored so students can revise from them.
  • Technical logs needed to keep the service running and secure.

What we do with it

Data is used to deliver the platform: showing progress, generating practice material, producing the analytics your college has enabled, and supporting your users. We do not sell personal data and we do not use student records to advertise to anyone.

Tenancy and access

Each institution is a separate tenant. Access within a tenant is role-based: parents see only linked children, faculty see their own classes, and administrative views are limited to authorised staff. Staff accounts can be required to use two-factor login.

Retention, residency and deletion

Retention periods and hosting location are set out in the agreement with your institution. Rather than summarise them loosely here, we will confirm the current specifics in writing on request write to hello@gaugeskills.com.

Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct or request deletion of your personal data. Requests from students and parents are routed through the institution that holds the record, so that the college can verify identity and enrollment first.

This website

The public site at gaugeskills.com uses Google Analytics to understand which pages people visit. Google sets cookies and receives page views, device information and an approximate location derived from your IP address. This measurement covers the marketing site only. It is separate from the product, and student, faculty and employee records are not sent to Google Analytics.
